A U.S. Senator is elected for six (6) years. This longer term allows senators to focus on long-term national interests rather than short-term political pressures.
Senate elections are staggered — about one-third of the 100 seats are up for election every two years. There are no term limits for senators.
Compare: Representatives serve 2-year terms, the President serves 4-year terms, and Senators serve 6-year terms.
Say: 'Six years.'
