The President has several powers. You only need to name one: signs bills into law, vetoes bills, enforces laws, serves as Commander in Chief of the military, acts as chief diplomat, or appoints federal judges.
The President's powers are defined and limited by the Constitution. The system of checks and balances means Congress and the courts can push back — Congress can override a veto, and courts can rule executive actions unconstitutional.
The President also has the power to negotiate treaties (with Senate approval), grant pardons, and issue executive orders. But the President cannot make laws alone — that's Congress's job.
Pick one: 'Signs bills into law' is the easiest to remember.
