A U.S. Senator represents all the people of their state — not just those who voted for them, but every person living in that state.
Each state has two senators, and both represent the entire state. This is different from House representatives, who each represent only one congressional district within a state.
Senators vote on laws, confirm presidential appointments, and ratify treaties on behalf of all their constituents.
