There are many American Indian tribes. You only need to name one. Common answers include Cherokee, Navajo, Sioux, Apache, Chippewa, Choctaw, and Iroquois.
Hundreds of distinct tribes existed across North America before European colonization, each with unique languages, cultures, and traditions. Many tribes still maintain their own governments today as sovereign nations within the United States.
You may also be asked to name a tribe in your specific area. Learn the name of two or three tribes and practice pronouncing them clearly.
Pick one you can pronounce confidently: 'Cherokee' or 'Navajo' — both are well-known and easy to say.
